WHAT IS THE NDIS?
The NDIS is a landmark Australian government initiative aimed at supporting individuals with significant and permanent disabilities. It offers the necessary funding for services and supports, including SDA, to improve the quality of life and independence of over 550,000 participants across the country.

WHAT IS THE SDA?
SDA encompasses housing solutions tailored for NDIS participants with severe functional impairments or very high support needs. This initiative ensures that individuals have access to homes that are not only safe and comfortable but also conducive to receiving the personalised care they require.
More than 30,000 individuals under the NDIS are anticipated to qualify for SDA funding, with an annual budget of $700 million, of which only half is currently utilsed. The predominant SDA options comprise aging properties and group living arrangements that fail to adequately address the needs of eligible participants. Furthermore, nearly 1,500 individuals remain hospitalised due to lack of suitable accommodations, while over 3,000 people under 65 reside in aged care facilities, many of whom could potentially benefit from SDA funding. Beyond financial gains, investing in SDA brings about significant social impact, enhancing the quality of life for those involved.
